1➽ Origin Of Network Marketing

Although there are no authentic documents found about the origin of multi-level marketing/ network marketing, it is believed that MLM existed in 1920 or before. Nutralite, FLP Were selling products through the MLM model.

In 1934 California Vitamin Company came up with the idea of Multi-Level Marketing. This company began as an immediate sales company signing up sales folks that would use the merchandise for his or her personal use and sell thereto to their family and friends.

Through the process, they might earn an additional income every month which was a considerable income at that point.

Their friends and relatives not only liked the merchandise but they began to realize that they might benefit financially themselves by buying the merchandise at the wholesale price and successively selling it to others.

In 1943, the California Vitamins company changed its name to Nutralite Corporation and implemented the basic concepts of the real Multi-Level Marketing model, and design the compensation plan accordingly.

In 1949, Jay Van Andle and Richard Marvin DeVoss joined Nutralite Corporation as members and the corporate grew and prospered faster in the next couple of years.

After 10 years of service, In 1959 Jay and Richard decided to travel in a different direction and begun their own Multi-Level company called Amway.

2➽How does Multi-level Marketing work?

Every MLM business enterprise dictates its personal unique Compensation Plan for the payout of any commission or bonus to their respective participant. In the compensation plans, two possible income streams are observed throughout all MLM businesses.

The first commission is paid for their own personal sales to retail customers. The 2nd is paid for the sales made by their down-line distributors.

Apart from these two income streams, some companies offer leadership income to qualified distributors.

MLM salespeople generally promote merchandise to the end-users or retail customers through their own skill of relationship and phrase of mouth marketing to earn a direct commission or direct bonus.

However, they are incentivized to recruit others to be part of the company's distribution chain as fellow salespeople so that these can come to be down line distributors.

No existence of middleman, ad agency distribution of products directly from the company to end-user 3-ways income- own efforts, team efforts

3➽ Business Model

Network marketing is a century-old marketing model that involves selling/distributing legitimate products at reasonable prices directly to consumers (end-users).

In this model, Instead of distributing products to retail shops and depending on the hired salespeople and advertisement agencies, companies invite people to register as independent marketer called distributors or consultants. many of whom start as customers.

It is basically a B2C model where the agreement is entered into between the Direct selling entity(company) and a networker/direct seller.

A network of people called distributors/consultants worked to grow their own business.
MLM involves using three basic types of systematic strategies to make money:
lead generation/prospecting, team-building/recruiting, and team management/training.

Why does Multi-Level Marketing Fail?

In fact, Multilevel Marketing or Network Marketing company never fails or shuts down. The ones that are closed are illegally grown to collect money from people in various ways.

These are born with the intention of closing after collecting some money. They don't care about basic marketing principles, rules, and regulations.

Why do networkers fail? maybe a valid question. The reason maybe one or more of the following.
  • Your company was not a genuine network marketing company
  • lack of entrepreneurship mentality
  • You didn't come here for the long term perspective so you left
  • Fewer involvements in education and  training program
  • the expectations did not match with reality.
  • You approached many people to buy but no one did
  • You approached all of your close friends to join
  • Perhaps you built a team but most of them quit
  • You set foot in so many boats that all sank

✅MLM is not for bringing fortune overnight. If you want to build a strong carrier think long-term, at least for 2-5 years. Find a solid company and join.
